Prof. Ahnert is a publicly appointed and certified expert for electroacoustics, particularly for sound-reinforcement, mixing-console, video and alarm systems.

In recognition of his long-standing work in the Audio Engineering Society he was in 1995 awarded the status of “Fellowship”.
In Spring 2001 he was awarded the honorary title of „Foreign Professor“ by the state-owned Lomonossov University Moscow.
In 2002 he was honored with the Peter Barnett Award of the British Institute of Acoustics.
